Every Day Matters #100 Landscape
I didn't have a digital camera to take a photo back when I was on TOP of Yosemite Falls, since there was no such thing as digital cameras back when I was 16! I know I'm aging myself. I used an uncopywritten photo from the net to paint from. The photo doesn't do it justice nor does my watercolor - but it was amazing to be at the top of this waterfall. The hike down is 135 switchbacks so I don't recommend it to anyone who's not in shape. I couldn't do it now! But it's a good memory for me :-) Maybe one day I'll be able to handle this hike again because it's a good symbol of what Yosemite is for me: wonderful places that are away from the throngs of people. The majesty of this Park is something that I shared with my own husband and children, so the legacy of those mentors from my 16th summer lives on.

Have they seen it yet? :) The park not the painting *grin*
I think you did a lovely job!
Most of our family vacations have been to Yosemite so yes they've seen it, hiked trails, experienced it. In fact, my middle son met us there back in June and we had long walks down memory lane :-)
This shows the calm and peace that you must have experienced here.
A beautiful sketch...love your line work! :)
thank you all for the comments! Yosemite will always be a favorite place for me to go and regroup. (I do feel calm and peaceful there). I often sketch some of the images I return home with, as well as sketching while there.
Nice sketches keep on going.
lovely loose sketch - this is the kind of sketch I study to see how it's done - Like it alot
What a wonderful sense of distance and depth you achieved. This is beautiful!
thank you for the kind comments! I learned something from doing this - the Prismacolor liners are not as waterproof as the Pitt pens. This is something that I'll keep in mind on future sketches!
Mindy you have a definite "style" in your Yosemite sketch that just jumped off the page! It is so pretty! I love your work. Haven't got the courage to post my own yet, though. I have a blog but it isn't art-related...yet.
What a wonderful picture! It makes me homesick. When my husband and I were (a lot) younger, we used to go camping in Yosemite with our best friends. I long for the opportunity to go back but now we live in the midwest...sigh. Your picture is so well done and it brought back so many memories!
Viane - glad I could bring back memories :-) thanks for the kind comments
